The person behind the lens
Franklin · Melbourne, VIC
"Melancholy and longing — but hopeful. That's what I'm chasing every time I pick up a camera."
I'm Franklin — a Melbourne-based photographer working under the name Anntlas, a blend of my surname and Atlas. I got into photography through a friend, but my style found its shape through cinema and a deep love of light. Heavy contrast, rich saturation, golden hour warmth, and the quiet drama of a dark room lit by a single source — that's where I feel at home.
Food came naturally. Growing up, everyone assumed I'd become a chef — and honestly, they weren't wrong. I cook well, but I've always reserved that for family and friends. Behind a camera though, I get to bring that same intimacy to food without giving up the lens. There's something about the way a dish sits under the right light that tells you everything about the person who made it.
By day I'm a registered nurse, fresh out of a Bachelor of Nursing at Deakin University. Photography is the other side of that — nursing asks you to be present with people at their most vulnerable; photography asks you to be present with the world at its most beautiful. Both are about attention. Both are about care.
Anntlas exists because small businesses in Melbourne deserve images that actually match the quality of what they make. I also build the websites to put those images to work — because a stunning photo buried on a poorly built site helps no one.
